I’ll introduce the history of Surin Elephant Festival. At first, before I introduce the history of festival, I introduce the history of Surin with slide. In 1763, Chiempum, is a left man on the slide, caught a white elephant and gave it to king. After this event the king said “good” to him and he gave an emblem of controlling this area, he became a secretary, Larchathinnanarmu, and part of his secretary name revised the land on Surin. Surin became elephant’s prefecture because of this opportunity. He likes elephant very much, so Surin Elephant Festival became formal festival and held every year.
